Usage Note
La plupart des is a fixed quantifier phrase meaning 'most of'. It takes a plural verb: la plupart des gens pensent que… ('most people think that…'). When used alone without a noun, it is simply la plupart — 'most of them'. The seed POS 'adjective' has been refined to 'determiner' as it quantifies a noun phrase.
